Hi, I’m El.
I’m an Australian-based ceramic artist,
I undertake my work in a little bush studio in Gooreng Gooreng country in remote central coast Queensland.
I create functional art inspired entirely by the natural world. Drawn to the imperfect textures, shifting colours and organic forms found in everyday life, my work is an ongoing interpretation of the landscapes I live, the people that surround me and all the little treasures that we find along the way.
Each piece is designed to blur the line between art and function. Ordinary household objects become sculptural, tactile works intended to be both used and bring joy.
Kedjebe (Keh-jeh-beh) is my artist name and the home of my creative force. It is a name I have carried with me since my youth, gifted to me by my Buninj Aunties while living in Kakadu after witnessing my connection to such creatures. In the Kunwinjku language, Kedjebe is the name for the Arafura File Snake.
